What is Hollow?
Hollow refers to the depth of the blade's groove
Hollow refers to how deep the groove cut into the blade is, measured in inches. A shallower hollow bites harder into the ice for sharper, tighter turns, while a deeper hollow glides more smoothly with less resistance.
A 5/8" hollow is a safe and balanced and option, but we encourage experimenting with different sizes to find the most optimal for your skating style. We can discuss your options for which hollow will be optimal for you.
There's no universal "correct" hollow, it's about choosing what feels right for your skating style and needs.

Guidelines based on different styles of play:
Smaller Hollow
Smaller Radius
- Better grip (bite)
- Faster take-offs
- Faster stops
- Sharper turns
Larger Hollow
Larger Radius
- Smoother glide
- Higher top speed
- Less resistance
- Easier transitioning
